Overview

A news editor at KQED is responsible for coordinating production of coverage of a topical or focused beat for KQED programs, or on local newscasts and The California Report, to online platforms, and more. The editor coordinates and edits daily news, longer-form feature pieces and deep-dive investigative projects on radio, digital and other platforms.
The editor of The California Report works with the TCR AM team to craft the broad vision for the program. S/he creates a coordinated, cohesive sound in covering the statewide news in two (sometimes three) daily 6:30 casts, while keeping the mission of KQED ? and the program — at heart. The editor encourages the team members to shine, fostering creative approaches to telling the daily, weekly and monthly news, while not overlooking trends and unusual content that make our state unique in the nation. S/he will work to connect The California Report to current partner stations and to find new partnerships and collaborations ? for content, for connection and to raise the profile of the show.
KQED News editors are expected to manage small teams of reporters and editors, on both content and journalistic issues, but also personnel and management issues.
