Crystal Dynamics is looking for an experienced Gameplay Animator with a thorough understanding of modern AAA animation workflows and tools. For this role, we are seeking an individual with a proven track record in creating industry leading gameplay animation. This role requires previous shipped AAA titles, ideally having successfully completed at least two product cycles.
The Gameplay Animator works efficiently and independently in support of the Lead Animator to create a variety of in-game animations at the highest quality while knocking down roadblocks as they arise. . This animator will have a strong technical background and advanced knowledge and experience using node-based animation editors and state machines as well as motion capture clean-up tools like Motion Builder.
Works at the direction of the department Lead and other Senior Animators as well as partners with Game Designers to identify and execute on the animation needs of the game.
Creates 3D in-game animations that seamlessly mix with the animations of other dev team members and actions within the game.
Visually scripts animation graphs/ trees.
Works under the guidelines of the Art Director to maintain the games visual identity and fidelity.
Works autonomously to prototype, iterate, and implement while solving technical challenges as they arise.
Works in a collaborative environment taking critical feedback constructively and applying it judiciously.
Produces high quality animations on time.
Essential Requirements, Competencies, Skills & Knowledge:
3-5 years of experience in gameplay animation for AAA games.
Experience setting up animation trees and animation blending using a visual animation editor, such as AnimGraph (Unreal Engine) or Blend Tree (Unity).
Understanding of all areas of character creation (mesh, texturing, skinning, IK).
Ability to communicate effectively and work with little supervision.
Experience and proven ability in successfully creating and implementing both key-frame and motion capture animations.
Experience editing raw Motion Capture Data.
Excellent communication skills, proven ability to work within a team.
A passion and love for games and gameplay animation!
Complex character/creature rigging experience in Maya for games or film.
C# or C++ knowledge
