As a Technical Director, FX at Pixar, you will use proprietary and 3rd-party tools to produce finished crowds animation for shots and sequences, as well as develop and refine systems to support crowds animation.


Responsible for design, implementation, or completion of crowd dressing, motion, and/or rendering in production shots and sequences
May adapt character models to the needs of crowd animation or build crowd characters
May create, debug, or modify systems to facilitate crowd-level animation
Works in a team environment to determine various design and technical solutions
Coordinates with other team members on integrating and optimizing the crowds process with the balance of the production pipeline


Degree in Computer Science, Visual Effects or a related area
Thorough knowledge of 3D computer graphics techniques
Strong aesthetic sense of animation, crowds, or effects timing


Experience in film or television effects, simulation, or creature effects
Working knowledge of Houdini, Massive, or Golaem
Experience with RenderMan and/or Katana
Scripting experience (e.g., in Python)
Character modeling or rigging experience
