Barnstorm VFX is seeking a freelance Unreal Environment Artist to join our team for a short-term contract.

The ideal candidate is experienced in environment layout and lighting within Unreal Engine 4. The Unreal Environment Artist we are looking for should have a strong understanding of composition and lighting principles in order to create aesthetic, functional, and immersive locations.
Integration and layout of real-time assets based on concept design and/or photographic reference.
Integration and/or layout of scene cameras using real-world specifications.
Creation or modification of procedural environment shaders in Unreal Engine 4.
Environment lighting and look development using both dynamic and baked lighting workflows.
Creation of both still and in-motion beauty renders from within the scene environment.
A portfolio demonstrating the ability to execute look development and lighting on a diverse range of environments.
Advanced knowledge of Unreal Engine 4, with a concrete understanding of 3D asset integration and optimization.
A good understanding of physically-based shaders and the ability to achieve the desired surface qualities across a variety of environment assets.
Experience assembling and lighting environments inside Unreal Engine 4.
An understanding of lighting, rendering, and render post-processes inside UE4.
Ability to work collaboratively, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong understanding of proportions, scale, and surface properties.
Knowledge of virtual production integration for film and television a plus.
At least 2 years of practical experience focused on layout, composition, and lighting.
